Lesson 2 – As above, so below
Welcome back! In the last lesson you were introduced to the Hebrew Alphabet, Tarot, Pathworking, The Tree of Life, you learned how to perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of The Pentagram. We covered a lot of ground in the first lesson. It is my hope you took your time with it as it laid the foundation for the inner temple we will now begin to build upon.
Now that you’ve learned how to perform the LBRP, there is another foundational ritual exercise which any serious aspiring magus should learn. It is that of the Middle Pillar. The LBRP is great for cleaning out any negative energy in your surrounding area.
Middle Pillar helps strengthen your energy centers. You become a vessel for divine light to naturally flow through. Both are extremely helpful as you work towards building your body of light. Watch the video below to see how it is performed. Then perform it yourself before moving on.
You must remember we practice these rituals not for show or performance. They are tools for inner alchemy. As you draw divine light in, you also draw closer to the shadow it reveals. This shadow I’m referring to is of course the ego. So then what’s the resolve? How does one overcome the limitations of ego and ensure they are aligned with divine will?
Introducing The Holy Guardian Angel
Every person has a “higher” or “divine” aspect of themselves within. Across time and traditions, this has been called many names: the Higher Self, the True Self, the Holy Guardian Angel. While some traditions treat the HGA as a distinct spiritual intelligence and others as your deepest divine nature, all agree that it represents the part of you that is aligned with Divine Will. Your inner light as you navigate the spiritual path.
Everything we’ve been doing and will be doing in this course, is designed to prepare you for the eventual Knowledge and Conversation with your own HGA, and with it, the discovery of your True Will. It is the reason you were sent, your purpose for being.
We’ll explore this more deeply in a future lesson. For now, just keep this question in the back of your mind: Is the action I’m about to take spiritually pure or is it rooted in selfish desire? How many times have you performed actions that were rooted in ego rather than in love? Meditate on this and journal the results when you are done.
Meditation on Beth / The Magician Tarot
- Begin the meditation session by cleansing your environment with LBRP
- Once you are finished with the LBRP, go ahead and perform the Middle Pillar Ritual
- Light your candle, you may be seated.
- Meditate on Beth / The Magician Tarot using the same technique as presented in lesson 1
- Once you are finished, journal down the results of your pathworking meditation.

Homework Assignment
- Continue pathworking on Beth / The Magician Tarot once per week for the next 4 to 6 weeks before moving on to the next lesson.
- Remember to record the results of each session in your journal during this time as well.
- Make sure you pair Sefer Yetzirah study with your pathworking meditation sessions.
- Practice both the LBRP & Middle Pillar daily at least once a day. Regardless of whether you do pathworking that day or not.
- Once you have completed this lesson, read Chapter 2 in Transcendental Magic by Eliphas Levi. Go no further in this book until instructed to do so.
Upon successful completion of this lesson, you have now traversed path 12 on the Tree of Life. Connecting Keter to Binah. There are 32 paths, 20 still remain for you to unlock. Fear not, you hold the keys of higher consciousness within. Until next time, safe travels.
